There are some places you don’t just visit they visit you. They enter your heart quietly, through a smile, a scent, a song... and they never really leave. Algeria is one of those places.
As I put my pen down and let Algeria go, a quiet ache lingers in the corners of my heart a tender longing that knows goodbye never truly means the end.
Algeria, you are the scent of fresh bread carried by the morning wind, the call of prayer rising above the old rooftops, the laughter of strangers who made me feel at home. You are the pride of Africa strong, soulful, generous, and endlessly kind.
The City That Breathes History
Walk through the center of Algiers and you’ll feel the rhythm of time the heartbeat of the Mediterranean blending with the whispers of the past. Wander into the Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where the old town climbs like a song written in stone.
And when the day softens into gold, climb to Notre Dame d’Afrique. Go at sunset trust me. When I stood there, the sky was a painting, the sea a prayer. I heard two young men Saouch Amar and Boutrik Zouhier playing their guitars under the fading light. Two souls, two strings, one nation’s heart.
Their music didn’t just fill the air it filled me. It carried the history of Algeria’s pain, beauty, and hope.

Book your photo session in Algiers with Boutrik. His camera doesn’t just capture faces it captures soul.
The Taste of Everyday Magic
Whatever you do in Algeria, eat slowly. Choose the fish that still smells of the sea, let them cook it just for you. Enjoy the fresh bread, still warm from the oven. And as you eat, listen because life here has a rhythm, and you’ll feel it even in silence.
Behind the garden where the old Tarzan movie was filmed, there’s a museum that takes your breath away. Go there. Let the walls speak of freedom and resilience. Algeria’s story is not just written it’s sung in every corner, whispered in every breeze.
A Note for Travelers
If you ever decide to visit this beautiful country, my dear friend Mr. Samir will be there to welcome you.
📞 +213 541 63 71 69 call him before you go; he’ll make sure Algeria opens her arms to you.
(If you don’t speak Arabic, or French, make sure your Google Translate is ready but mostly, bring your heart. Algeria understands kindness more than language.)
The Goodbye That Isn’t One
As I close this chapter, I realize I’m not really leaving. A piece of me will remain among your whitewashed walls, your olive trees, your golden light.
You taught me that travel is not about escape it’s about return.
Return to wonder. Return to humanity. Return to the parts of ourselves that still believe the world is beautiful.
Thank you, Algeria. You’ve given me more than memories. You’ve given me meaning.
Until we meet again you will always have a piece of my heart.
With love and gratitude,
